LinkedIn Post Text: Exploring Radar for Multi-Lane Traffic Monitoring on Belgian MotorwaysWe partnered with EQUANS to test a highway traffic monitoring Proof of Concept near Antwerp, Belgium.A smartmicro UMRR-11 Type 132 radar sensor was installed on a highway gantry to monitor four motorway lanes towards Antwerp.The objective was to evaluate radar-based traffic counting and vehicle classification as a scalable alternative to the inductive loop detectors currently in use at the site.The radar sensor was connected via Moxa NPort for data communication, enabling lane-specific traffic data streaming without the need for intrusive road works.With smartmicro forward-firing radar technology, the system measures range, speed, and azimuth angle for every detected vehicle.
