LinkedIn Post Text: Postal systems process millions of parcels daily, but traditional X-ray screening can’t keep pace with high-speed sorting operations. Our latest project explores how mmWave imaging combined with AI analysis could provide a faster, more cost-effective alternative for real-time security screening.We’ve demonstrated that ultrawide band mmWave sensors can detect both object shape and material composition through cardboard packaging. By training neural networks on these measurements, the system successfully discriminates between different materials (plastics, metals, composites) whilst identifying objects based on their physical characteristics.The technology has broader applications beyond postal security: airport screening, prison security, public event venues, and even industrial quality control for food processing lines!This work brings together our capabilities in mmWave sensor design, manufacturing, and real-time AI processing.
